Welcome to the 2015 World Medical Football Championships and Global Congress on Medicine and Health in Sport! The US Medical Soccer Team is proud and honored to be hosting this incredible event bringing together over 600 physicians, as well as their families and friends, from around the country and the world for a week of soccer, medical education, and community outreach.
The World Medical Football Championships is a week-long World Cup-style soccer tournament comprised of physician teams from around the world focused on friendly competition. By bringing physician athletes together in one setting, the Global Congress on Medicine and Health in Sport showcases the academic pursuits of our cohort and provides a venue to educate. The soccer tournament and medical conference, along with numerous activities throughout the week, will make WMFC 2015 a memorable and engaging event.

The 2015 Global Congress on Medicine and Health in Sport
The Global Congress on Medicine and Health in Sport (GCMHS) is the annual medical conference held in conjunction with the WMFC. The goal of the Congress is to bring active physicians and other medical luminaries together to educate, innovate, and improve the quality of care we deliver in our communities around the world. The GCMHS is an integral part of the week’s activities and is the pride of our unique physician cohort. The Congress schedule will include symposia devoted to injury prevention, orthopedics/sports medicine, concussions/head injury, and exercise physiology, sports cardiology, nutrition and metabolism. This year’s Congress will culminate in the first ever World Health Systems Symposium, which will be devoted to the global obesity epidemic. We’ll approach this complex issue from the angle of active physicians who understand the importance and interplay of lifestyle and medicine, from public health policies to the patient-physician relationship. This year’s GCMHS will be an amazing, educational event and one of the highlights of the 2015 WMFC.

The Events
The Opening Ceremony will welcome everyone to the United States and Long Beach at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center on June 27, 2015. The Wednesday, July 1 social event will give us all an opportunity to socialize during a tour of one of the world’s most iconic places — Hollywood! We will conclude our wonderful week of friendship during the Closing Ceremony at the Long Beach Convention Center on July 4, 2015. Enjoy the fireworks and our gala farewell to everyone at the conclusion of our amazing week!
